ACCOMMODATION

The modern kitchen with beautiful granite work surfaces has an induction hob, a combination oven (convection, grill and microwave), a dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. We provide a good selection of crockery, glasses, mugs and pots and pans.  In addition, for larger parties, there is a second microwave/grill and a spare toaster and kettle, which can be brought out.

The dining area seats six, and there is also a high chair.

The lounge area has a flat screen television with Satellite reception, which includes all main terrestrial channels plus many more and a DVD player. The router for the wifi is also in this room.  We have a "flexible library", which means that should you finish your book, you are welcome to leave it in the bookcase, and take another one home with you.  We also provide a good selection of DVDs and CDs for your use.

There are three bedrooms.  The master bedroom has a super-king sized bed (6ft wide) and an en-suite with shower, loo and sink.  The second bedroom also has a super-king sized bed and overlooks the pool area.  The third bedroom is a twin room, and overlooks the driveway.

We have had USB sockets fitted in the kitchen and the two double bedrooms for your convenience.

Outside, the massive 12m x 6m heated and floodlit pool is situated in a large south facing terrace featuring three 'palapas' (rush topped sun shades), and ample sun-beds with mattresses.

The outside eating area includes a table and seating for 6, and a built-in BBQ.

The outside utility room houses a washing machine, fridge/freezer, as well as a toilet and sink.  While we cannot guarantee what is there, as it is constantly changing,  there is always a selection of pool toys for your use (eg, spaghetti floats, floating chairs etc).  If you fancy something different, there are many shops on the beach that sell pool toys.

We have a very high proportion of repeat visitors, with over half of those who have ever visited Casa Dryllig booking to come back again. I know I am biased, but this really is a lovely villa in a beautiful part of Spain, and the positive comments that we receive are very reassuring that we are doing everything right!

LOCATION

Casa Dryllig is situated approximately 3km from the town centre of Calpe, a medium sized town on the northern Costa Blanca.  The town is dominated by the 1,000ft high "Penon d'Ifach", a beautifully distinctive chunk of rock.

The coast is 500m from the Casa Dryllig, with the nearest sandy beach being approx 1km. Costa Blanca means "white coast", and the beaches along this stretch are superb blue-flag sandy beaches, which feature life-guards as well as jet-skis, pedalos, climbing frames, floating activity centres, etc.

Calpe is approximately 80km from Alicante Airport, and the journey takes between 50-60 minutes, depending on traffic and who is driving!!

Another option is to fly into Valencia which is around 120km from Calpe and takes about 90 minutes to drive.

If you decide not to hire a car, please check the FAQ section for information on other means transfer, eg taxi, bus.

ATTRACTIONS

Calpe is a medium-sized town, which is very tourist friendly, without being too commercialized.

There are two beaches in Calpe, both with beautiful white sand, and blue flag bathing.  You will also find access to jet-skis, climbing frames, lots of shops and restaurants on the wide promenade, and many other attractions, including (I am told!) beach Zumba, to burn off some of the Sangria calories.

Just up the road in Moraira, there is a challenging little 9 hole golf course, where you can hire a motley selection of clubs, which all adds to the fun!  If you are more serious about your golf, there are several high class 18 hole courses in the area, but do remember to bring your handicap card.

Other nearby attractions include wind-surfing and sailing, go-karting, a catamaran with underwater viewing windows, mountain climbing, and much, much more.

The nearest major tourist area is Benidorm (approx 1/2 hour drive), including Terra Mitica theme park, Aqualandia Water Park, Mundomar Sea life Centre, and far too much else to mention!

EATING OUT

In terms of eating out, Casa Dryllig is very well located, with several bars/restaurants within a couple of minutes easy walking distance.

At the commercial centre at the top of the lane you will find a fantastic Nepalese Indian restaurant called Base Camp, which we strongly recommend.

A few yards further on there is a great value “all you can eat” Japanese and Asian restaurant.

There is also an open air bar (Bar Grizzlys), which serves lots of bar snacks including steaks, burgers, salads, baguettes, pasta, etc, and if you fancy a 15 minute stroll along the beautiful rocky coast, you will reach a bar and restaurant with panoramic views across to the Penon d’Ifach.

If you are prepared to drive, the World is your oyster, so to speak.  Calle Jardin in the centre of Calpe is a pedestrianised road which lies in the centre of an area where just about every property is a restaurant.

Moraira, which is approximately 10km away also has a phenomenal range of restaurants to choose from.

We have provided the details and directions to a selection of our favourite places in a comprehensive file of local information, and we encourage our guests to add their own comments and suggestions.
